Things to Do at Day 1 Dallas
Come out and Play on New Year’s Day! Day 1 Dallas 2017 will be bigger better than ever, with a wide variety of activities to keep your kids entertained. Kids will be able to:
- Dare to try ziplining or rock climbing.
- Leap in one of our bounce houses.
- Sled on a hill with real snow (weather permitting).
- Ride one of our kid-friendly carnival rides.
- Build and learn with a whole world of LEGO®.
- Experience circus arts, magic, and illusions.
- Enjoy a special show by local favorite Critterman
- Dance to (or just enjoy) music from local bands.
- Test their skills with lawn games like golf holes and washers.
- Meet characters from Star Wars, LEGO and more.
- And of course stay for the spectacular fireworks show at 6 p.m. – the best way to start the new year!
Ziplining is just one of the fun activities included in the price of admission at Day 1 Dallas!
Activity Details & Schedules
Dallas Yoga Center will offer yoga and meditation classes throughout the afternoon. One-hour yoga sessions will take place at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Half-hour meditation sessions will be offered at 12:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. The yoga classes are appropriate for all experience levels. A limited number of yoga mats will be available, so bring your own to be on the safe side! Location: Centennial Building
Circus Freaks will be on hand to teach juggling, object manipulation, hooping, clown silliness and other performance skills. Stop by their official play area and join the circus for an afternoon of play, exploration and fun! Location: Automobile Building
The Great Toddini will delight audiences of all ages with his unique blend of humor and magic. Showtimes: 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Location: Automobile Building
Critterman and his animal ambassadors will entertain and educate children and adults alike! Performance time: 1:15 p.m. Location: Automobile Building.
Magician & Mentalist Grant Price will enthrall and enchant with his unique style of mind reading and magic. Performance times: Noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Location: Centennial Building.
Storyteller Melody Bell and African drummer Babakawsi will share their special talents from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Location: Resolution Park Stage in the Centennial Building.
We are proud to present the musical talents of Hip Hop Harmonies, Slikk Muzic Group, The Desire to Inspire L.I.G.H.T. and Mahogany & The Jam Box, performing from 3:30 to 5:50 p.m. Location: Outdoor Stage.
Performers from the Texas Talent Showcase will delight audiences from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Automobile Building and from 1-3 p.m. on the Outdoor Stage.
DJ Juice Da 5.5 will get everyone dancing with his performance from 2-2:30 p.m. Location: Automobile Building.
For the Love of Dallas, a community of dog rescue groups and pit bull advocates, will be featured from 12 to 1 p.m. on the Outdoor Stage and from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Automobile Building.
Hunt for Pokemon with Pokemon Go. Lures will be active at various stops throughout the day – view some of the many PokeStops at Fair Park!
Frequently Asked Questions
Outside food and drink is not allowed. Coolers are not permitted. There will be a number of food and drink vendors with traditional New Year’s Day food and other delights.
Day 1 Dallas is presented by Vogel Alcove, a nonprofit organization that helps children recover from the traumatic effects of homelessness. Proceeds from the event benefit Vogel Alcove and its mission.

Family fair (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.) Adults are $15 and Children (age 4-12) are $5. Children age 3 and under are free.
Fireworks, Food & Fun starts at 5 p.m. featuring live music, food vendors, and the best fireworks in town! The only entry fee for the evening is a donation to Vogel Alcove.
All proceeds from Day 1 Dallas benefit Vogel Alcove, a Dallas nonprofit organization that helps homeless children and families.
